GROW was founded on the core belief that the future of the planet is dependent on the strength of the communities that bind it. Ethical, conscious communities that understand the impact of climate change, and encourage one another to strive for a better way - together.
Our purpose is to empower communities, both thriving and emerging, with an agricultural solution that provides both local opportunity and global climate benefits.
A recent report from the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, released in August 2019, looks at the relationship between climate change and land use, citing the need for a shift to sustainable farming systems that focus on soil condition, carbon storage and biodiversity.
"Soils now hold just 1 per cent of the planet’s total carbon, but they once contained as much as 7 per cent... Land must remain productive to maintain food security as the population increases."
Modern food production systems are largely responsible for approximately 30 per cent of greenhouse gas emissions every year.
Faced with an unprecendented changing climate, degradation of nutrient rich soil, unpredictable weather conditions, a reliance on pest controlling poisons and the widespread use of nitrogen fertilisers - agricultural farming is an increasingly risky, challenging and sometimes isolating occupation to navigate.
But it doesn't have to be this way...
GROW's integrated and sustainable solution to the global issues mentioned above is best described as an 'ecosystem' - a biological community of interacting organisms and their physical environment.
The GROW Ecosystem is a multi-layered solution that connects our organic GROWtunnel farmer network with localised (location based) wholesale buyers via our proprietary digital marketplace - effectively forming a community of interacting farmers and retailers, within the GROW environment.
Connecting locally not only provides economic benefits to the local community, it also reduces food miles - equating to lower transportation costs & carbon emissions - and encourages community interaction with local business supporting local business.
